| Vehicle | Looking for a replacement for my flood destroyed Subaru. My home and everything on the 1stfloor was wiped out in the flood (3'+ inside), and my car was totaled. I had a 2001 Forester w/ 92K, super well maintained. I'm spending hours everyday trying to find a long-term replacement with lower mileage worth spending money on (Outback or Forester) with no luck (up to the $8000 or so range). There is not even anything equivalent to my car available (and cars that go for what the insurance company gave me have 150K on them). After 5+ weeks it is getting to be a big drain, and impairing my ability to recover in other ways from the flood. I lived along and was engulfed by the Dog River in Berlin, not the Mad (though I previously lived in Warren for 4 years) - but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. | General | Hello, I am a poultry farmer not far out of Montpelier living on the east side of Moretown. I need a large group of strong persons to lift and remove a 20X10X8 foot aviary from it's current location to my main poultry yard area. The aviary is a steel frame structure with wire fencing around the sides and aviary netting over the top. It is essentially a tent garage frame. There is a wood framed door on the front. I'm sure this structure weighs a few hundred pounds. It needs to be moved about 100 yards. There is a wooden coop/shelter on stilts inside that also needs to go with it. It is about 5X3x3 and stands on stilted legs. The area it is located in was badly flooded during the storm and I was lucky it wasn't washed away. I've also got the remains from my driveway bridge that was destroyed by the flooding. The 2"x10"x16ft boards and other lumber needs to be moved over my foot bridge to the house area to prevent theft. These boards are very heavy. I had a knee replacement in late June and find there is a lot I still cannot do, especially carry heavy things like the lumber. The aviary houses a rare pheasant species and I will need to capture him ahead of time so it is critical that I know if your group can come help so I can prepare. This request probably will only require 1/2 day's time.view full page |
